<image:title>Town Square - Riot On the Set! - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>Tonight we tried out a new custom script named “Blood & Ballots”. I believe this was my first time running this Demon, but I have forgotten doing it at some point in the past. With the time-pressure aspect of the way it ends, it’s kinda similar to both the Minion Boomdandy and the Fabled Fiddler, each of which I’ve run several times. The good team had pretty much figured out it was a Riot, even before we got to the end of D2, and a lot of them seemed to have a good idea of who the Minions were. When the Riot ended there were still 3-4 good players alive. Some unusual happenings this game: The Goblin got preached N1. The Witch got 0 curse kills. The Klutzed picked the Ravenkeeper to clear her.</image:caption>

<image:title>Town Square - Riot On the Set! - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>On N2, the Al-Hadikhia’s kills were scuttled by the Lycanthrope. His kill on N3 was the Faux Pas, so this allowed the Demon to kill that night. And kill he did! The 1st and 2nd chose to live, and even though the 3rd chose to die, she was the Fool with her ability unused, so she died but still lived, triggering the Al-Had to kill them all. The Oracle chose to live at least a couple times after that, because she knew she was the Grandmother’s grandchild. The Demon killed his Poisoner, but got executed, triggering the Scarlet Woman, who revived the Poisoner. In the end, the town figured it out, but it was a fairly close game.</image:caption>

<image:title>Town Square - Porque No Los Dos? - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>The group had brought up the possibility of one player drawing both Demons, and I had pointed out that the chances of this happening are greater than they seem: 1/12, and NOT 1/144. (1/144 is the chance that a specific player will draw the Demon in game 1 and also draw the Demon in game 2.) But that did end up happening in this game, as you can see above. The newest player for once didn’t draw the Demon, but she did draw the Snake Charmer, in S&V. She was also seen and chosen by several other players in TB on N1, partly because I chose her character there to be the Drunk.</image:caption>
</image:image>
<image:image>
<image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/67a4045d5c2b973ff2898245/d638a3e8-cd96-496a-877b-68669d5f8a69/Grimoire_2026_08_01_B.jpg</image:loc>
<image:title>Town Square - Porque No Los Dos? - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>Three nights into the game, 2 Seamstress abilities had been used to confirm teammates on the S&V side, which significantly outed the Minions, although one of those Minions got Vigormortis-killed, which probably ended up confusing a few players. On the TB side, the Undertaker was killed before he could receive any info, but the Ravenkeeper actually learned who the Imp was.</image:caption>
</image:image>
<image:image>
<image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/67a4045d5c2b973ff2898245/a46f0a50-49b9-4b63-8635-464d81fac58f/Grimoire_2026_08_01_C.jpg</image:loc>
<image:title>Town Square - Porque No Los Dos? - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>Near the end, the S&V game became quite gripping, because just after outing her role publicly, the Snake Charmer chose the Demon and resulted in a swap! The former Demon outed all his info (on the S&V side, at least), and the Demon was summarily executed. But the Evil Twin pair being alive, that game was still going. In the TB game, the Baron had bluffed Imp and convinced at least a few players that that game was already over; it wasn’t. The final execution was the Philosopher in S&V, and the Saint in TB. This resulted in an evil win for the TB game. (Now, admittedly, I made a small mistake here.) I woke the (poisoned) Snake Charmer for his pointless pick, then the Imp (same player!) to choose his kill - this kill shouldn’t have gone through, tho, because the TB game was now finished. Although I should’ve woken the town with 3 still alive to vote on their final execution, I killed the Imp’s choice for the good win on S&V. Still, I feel very confident they would’ve gotten to the same outcome, and probably would’ve killed the exact same person.</image:caption>

<image:title>Town Square - Gyre & Gamble in the Wabe - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>One of the more interesting turns, I thought, was having an alive Undertaker right after a day with 2 executions due to the Butcher. I believe the 2 executions in this case were the Soldier and the Drunk (Fortune Teller). I hadn’t read the full almanac entry on Undertaker in a long while, so I had to make a rules call: Should the Undertaker see both characters of the executed players from that day, only the most recent one, or is there another option? I closely read the Undertaker description: “Each night*, you learn which character died by execution today.” Now, it doesn’t say “characters”, but it also doesn’t say “most recently” or “a/one character who died” or anything else that serves to limit them to just 1 token. And at this point, my policy as ST kicks in: I’m not gonna consult a rulebook/wiki/almanac while people are sleeping and probably getting bored - that will just take too long, while often failing to turn up the “correct” answer anyhow, assuming one even exists. I’m going to do my best with the accessible materials to come up with a fair ruling. If I’m wrong, oh well - it’s just a game, and players will still have fun! In this case, I showed both character tokens to the Undertaker, which did reveal a lot of juicy info. But it’s not the intended behavior - the almanac entry actually does spell it out in clear terms; the ST can choose either token to show; showing both is not really within their discretion. I learn from every game, but I do believe everyone had fun in this one.</image:caption>

<image:title>Town Square - Gyre & Gamble in the Wabe - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>A short game with a hilarious outcome. Day 1, the Recluse outed herself, self-nommed, and begged to be executed, but we ended up hanging the Butler instead; they had both been in the Investigator ping of Scarlet Woman. Day 2, the Recluse managed to get on the block with another self-nom, and we nearly executed her, but the traveling Judge decided it was time to go. He used his once-per-game ability to convict the next player nominated, who turned out to be the Imp. Game over!</image:caption>

<image:title>Town Square - Gyre & Gamble in the Wabe - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>The most remarkable thing in this game was absolutely what the Gambler did. She lived after successfully gambling (sober & healthy each time, BTW) the Chambermaid, the Grandmother, the Minstrel, and the Po. On the final night, the Po charged because there were 2 Townsfolk left alive, except there weren’t because the Gambler intentionally died by gambling herself as the Sailor. The proc’ed Fool went on to nom the Demon in Final 4 for another good team victory.</image:caption>

<image:title>Town Square - Viva La Vigormortis! - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>When the Zombuul was executed, poisoning the Cannibal, I gaslighted him as the Engineer. But then the Organ Grinder claimed Engineer as his bluff, so the Zombuul didn’t end up going with it. The Acrobat nearly missed killing himself N2 with his first choice - the Organ Grinder had just returned to sobriety and chose not to drunk himself that day. The Snake Charmer didn’t choose the Demon on N1, and since the Zombuul was executed D1 and registering as dead, the Snake Charmer would never get a chance to choose him.</image:caption>

<image:title>Town Square - Viva La Vigormortis! - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>The Artist asked a very thematically appropriate question - she asked if her socks were blue, and they were, so she got a Yes. The Klutz chose the good Twin in this game, since there had been so much confirmation on him (from Harlot, Dreamer, and Juggler, I think). The Snake Charmer didn’t really know he was poisoned, and he never picked the No Dashii, so his ability never malfunctioned, technically. I thought the poisoned Sage kill would’ve set up a more straightforward argument for evil to make in F3, but maybe I’m wrong… The Dreamer had gotten a few days of info, and perhaps one more would have solved.</image:caption>

<image:title>Town Square - Viva La Vigormortis! - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>Both the twins claimed Clockmaker with a 1, so the Demon was in trouble right away, and to top it off, the good twin was Witch-cursed & -killed on D1. The Pit-Hag got executed that day, as well, so there wasn’t much chance of saving them. Vigormortis can be quite rough, because there’s just not very much misinformation befalling all these useful Townsfolk. The Philosopher in this game chose to go with Sage, a choice I sure don’t see every day.</image:caption>

<image:title>Town Square - Scooby-Doo 2: Electric Boogaloo - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>The Philosopher immediately chose to be the Snake Charmer, and the Minion (originally the Organ Grinder) claimed exactly the same - Philo into SC. The Engineer created a Vizier, but nobody heard about it because the real Organ Grinder had been executed by then, so the Alchemist OG now had full control of their ability. If I recall correctly, the Zombuul was executed next, then 2 nights later, he gave up and chose to kill himself.</image:caption>

<image:title>Town Square - Scooby-Doo 2: Electric Boogaloo - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>The Pacifist didn’t have many opportunities to save this game, because she was poisoned for 2 nights, and then evil players were being executed. The evil Bone Collector used her ability to reactivate the Poisoner, who successfully poisoned the Mayor. His poison prevented a bounce that night when the Ojo attacked the Mayor. The Goon and Damsel, without much coordination between them, managed to confuse the evil team enough that nobody ended up guessing the Damsel correctly, even when the Demon was on the block.</image:caption>

<image:title>Town Square - Scooby-Doo 2: Electric Boogaloo - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>This was a quick game, because a Legion ended it on D1 by correctly guessing the Damsel. Since Legions always register as both a Demon and a Minion, there’s no ST discretion here - the Damsel has been correctly guessed by a Minion, so the game must end. I had originally intended this to be an Al-Hadikhia game; that Demon went into the bag. But on N1, the Engineer chose to transform the Demon to a Legion, so via jinx, the Minions transformed into Legions too, and I threw in a couple bonus ones as well. I guess I should’ve made 1 more, though.</image:caption>

<image:title>Town Square - Scooby-Doo 2: Electric Boogaloo - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>So this is the first time I actually got to run an Al-Hadikhia game. Most of the good team had the grim figured out by the end. But we did get to see the cool interaction between Al-Had and Fool, where the Fool chose to die, but her own ability prevented the death, resulting in all 3 chosen players living, so they all 3 die, including the Fool. That same night, we almost got to see the jinx between Al-Had and Scarlet Woman, except that all 3 died, preventing the original Al-Had from coming back to life.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The Chef received a 3 on N1 (due in part to an evil Traveller - the Deviant), which was already pretty remarkable, but on N2 another evil Traveller was added to the game in a position that would make it a Chef 4, if the Chef would receive info again. I’m not sure how many people the Chef told this to on D1, but then he turned evil on N2 because he said the Mezepheles word right out of the gate. This Mez word was “Zoinks!” Also, a good player, who was playing Flowergirl, was selected by every other evil player between N1 and N2 - he was Lleech hosted & poisoned, Fearmongered, killed by the Godfather N2, and in addition had his votes reversed by the good Thief, who had just joined the game at the start of N2. Since the Lleech host was killed, the game ended early and suddenly, but that was probably for the best, honestly.</image:caption>

<image:title>Town Square - The Way You Shake And Shiver - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>This was my first Legion game to run as a Storyteller; as far as I recall, I’ve only played in 1. The Mayor was the D1 execution, but after that, all deaths were Legion for a couple days. On N2, the Oracle got a correct 1, so the Mathematician got another 0. After that, the Oracle got 2 twice (drunk), so the Mathematician got 1 malfunction those nights. On D4, the Puzzlemaster guessed that the Mathematician player was puzzle-drunk, so I told her the Demon was the Oracle player. In the end, the Oracle self-nominated because he believed he was the Lleech host.</image:caption>

<image:title>Town Square - The Way You Shake And Shiver - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>This game was technically an evil win, but I did make a pretty huge mistake early in the game that greatly affected the outcome - it’s impossible to say what would’ve happened in other circumstances. But I think players still had fun with this game. As the Lycanthrope’s faux pas, the General registered evil to the Noble. The Mezepheles told the magic word “Nefarious” to the Witch, who told it to the Acrobat, who came and said it to me right away on D1. The Acrobat was also the Grandmother’s grandchild, so I was excited that the evil team was communicating so effectively. In my excitement about the big-brained play, I forgot that a successful Lycan kill cancels the Demon’s kill, so I killed the Acrobat, Grandmother, and Noble (the Lycan’s choice), all on N2. Lycanthrope died to Witch curse.</image:caption>

The Gambler died to his own ability the night he checked the Assassin on the other side of the Tea Lady (I think he believed they were a Grandmother). Unusually, the Assassin killed the Godfather in this game, and the Zombuul killed the Devil’s Advocate. The Professor tried to resurrect the Zombuul and eventually caught on to why it didn’t work. I think evil could’ve won if they just stopped murdering each other.</image:caption>

<image:title>Town Square - BGG.Con Spring 2026 - Day 4 - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>This was my last scheduled game of the Con, and it very well might have been the best one I STed. The Godfather killed himself after the Moonchild died to execution near the start of the game, making him look sus on the other side of the Tea Lady. The Moonchild (late) selected the Goon as his player, but it was daytime, so no drunking happened there. I made a small mistake by resurrecting the Moonchild with the Professor power (should only work on Townsfolk!), but I announced publicly that there was a ST mistake, and enough people caught on to what that had been. The Innkeeper also protected the Tinker & Grandmother the night they were both attacked by the Shabaloth. And the Grandmother died to her own ability several nights after the Grandchild was killed by the Demon, when she eventually sobered up. It did come down to the final 3, but good team had tons of useful information by then, because the Chambermaid survived the whole game. She got a 1 on every single night, because of the pairs she happened to choose, but it worked out. The Exorcist chose the Shabaloth on the very last night to prevent the killing, as well. There was a Shabaloth regurgitation of the Tinker, who promptly died again the next night.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The Snake Charmer hit the Demon N1 and swapped, so I made the former Demon (now poisoned SC into the Evil Twin’s good twin - people admired this move quite a bit, after the Grim reveal. Unfortunately 2/3 Outsiders were killed quite early - Witch curse and 1st execution. But the Fang Gu stayed hidden for most of the game, but became a Minion after the Barber execution triggered another swap. Because Sweetheart died early, the Juggler got Sweetheart drunk, and another thing you don’t see every day was that the evil Judge died without ever using his ability.</image:caption>

<image:caption>This game had to be a good win, because this is the final photo I took of it; the Vortox gave wrong info to the Artist, Town Crier, and Philo-Seamstress - I do remember that much! I guess it’s possible the game ended with a Klutz pick of an evil character, but I don’t think that happened all weekend, in spite of how many S&V games I STed. The good Deviant never made me laugh really, and the evil Bureaucrat chose her Pit-Hag friend for the entire game.</image:caption>

<image:caption>On N2, the Philosopher chose to steal the ability of the Snake Charmer, who then became drunk for about half the game. Then on N3, the Philo used the Snake Charmer ability to swap alignments & characters with the No Dashii, who promptly outed the Minions, although most people were reluctant to trust her. The dead Town Crier helped her solve exactly what had happened, though! The Dreamer got mostly poisoned info, but was Cerenovus-mad and therefore unable to out her wrong info, until she was executed due to madness. The Pit-Hag took quite a few nights to figure out his ability, but eventually turn the new Philo into the Sweetheart, the Seamstress into the Mutant, and the Snake Charmer into a good-team Fang Gu. We also had a good-twin Barber who decided to help her Evil Twin friend, and never outed to the town, so it was a huge surprise when the good Fang Gu got to Barber-swap the Cerenovus with the Flower Girl, and nobody understood what the hell was going on. The game was overlong and absolutely insane, but eventually good team won by executing the Evil Twin then the final Demon, the good Fang Gu.</image:caption>

<image:caption>In this game of Extension Cord (the only custom script I ended up running at this Con), the evil Matron made the whole game reliably chaotic with some early game moves before he travelled away. He swapped the position of both the No Dashii and the Marionette, so poison was basically everywhere at some point or another, and nobody had any clue what was going on. The Fisherman ended up getting 2 pieces of advice, because she used her ability on a day when she’d been chosen by the good Barista, who also sobered up some of the poisoned people throughout the game. But the Demon did get 2 kills on one night, and used the 2nd one to kill the Barista, ironically. The Marionette wasn’t told and didn’t figure out that he was evil.</image:caption>

<image:title>Town Square - BGG.Con Spring 2026 - Day 2 - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>I came to regret this, but I agreed to help a tween and a kid under 10 to ST a game of Trouble Brewing. Normally I try to be very enthusiastic about letting new Storytellers try their hand behind the Grimoire, although I do think they should be supervised. What I eventually regretted was that the kids relentlessly bugged me about giving them more opportunities to do so, for the rest of the Con. Anyway this was a pretty normal game of TB: the Spy double-claimed the Librarian, the poisoned Saint was executed so the game didn’t end, a Mayor kill bounced to the Washerwoman (I think), the Librarian nommed the Virgin (I think) to get executed, and the Slayer was actually the Drunk. Pretty sure good team was able to solve this one in the end.</image:caption>

<image:title>Town Square - BGG.Con Spring 2026 - Day 2 - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>My scheduled game of Friday of the Con. The Drunk (Undertaker) died after seeing only 1 night of true info, which was that the Empath was executed due to the Virgin. The Scarlet Woman outed herself to a friend on the good team, thinking that she could trust her friend to keep the secret. The Monk successfully protected the Chef, but I don’t think the Ravenkeeper got to do anything. As I recall, this ended with an evil victory, with the town executing the Recluse, but this picture of the final 4 instead of the final 3 is making me question it… Hopefully, I just forgot to photograph the last night.</image:caption>

<image:title>Town Square - BGG.Con Spring 2026 - Day 2 - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>I had a kid in this game who strongly wanted to play a Traveller, and she chose the Bishop - my first time ever using that character! I made her an evil Bishop, so that I’d have to nominate a good player at least once per day. I ended up nominating the Recluse a couple of times early on, to make it ambiguous whether the Traveller was good/evil, but I lost the ability after a couple days, because the Traveller had to go to bed. I do think that good solved this one, although even though he was totally sober, I’m pretty sure it wasn’t a Mayor win.</image:caption>

<image:title>Town Square - BGG.Con Spring 2026 - Day 1 - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>I eased into the Con with a classic Trouble Brewing game, and I can honestly say, after the 14 or so other games I Storytold last weekend, I actually don’t recall for sure whether this one was a good win or an evil win. From the other Grim photos I took, it looks to me like the Investigator nommed the Virgin and was executed by them, but not till D3. It also looks like the Ravenkeeper would’ve gotten a sober use of their ability, and the Drunk (Empath) must have figured out that they were Drunk, but I think Emma was able to convince most of the town to kill her brother Joe, in the end.</image:caption>

<image:title>Town Square - BGG.Con Spring 2026 - Day 1 - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>I do remember how this game ended - I declared an evil victory, and I regretted it afterward. In this game, the evil Pit-Hag created a good Vortox close to the end of the game, and since it was a good demon, which the good team should therefore know/hear about, I decided not to arbitrarily kill anybody. On the day of the final 4, I was getting a lot of calls from the town to end the game, because it seemed unwinnable for good, so I did declare an evil victory at this point. But looking back on it, I’m honestly not sure at all - either Demon could’ve killed the other without killing another Townsfolk, the Snake Charmer also could’ve swapped with either Demon to create confusion or potentially change teams and steal the win!</image:caption>

<image:title>Town Square - BGG.Con Spring 2026 - Day 1 - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>I honestly don’t clearly recall the ending of this game, either - it was a long weekend, y’all! I am pretty sure it must’ve been a good team win, because this is the last photo I took. I know it wasn’t a Klutz loss, because the Klutz was death #1 or #2, and 2 people died after that, so Klutz probably cleared a good player. If it came down to the final 3, then I forgot to take a photo on the last night, but I do think that the good team figured this one out, because I recall that the Philo (Oracle) and the Philo-drunk real Oracle were working together and got information that confirmed which was drunk.</image:caption>

<image:title>Town Square - BGG.Con Spring 2026 - Day 1 - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>My first scheduled game of the convention, and I’m pretty sure this one came down to an evil win. The Drunk (Washerwoman) got a Demon bluff as their Townsfolk, probably Mayor but maybe Chef. The Undertaker learned of a very early Imp execution. That was of course caught by a Scarlet Woman who later star-passed as the Imp, to the Baron. The Soldier blocked a kill, and the Gunslinger had no time to duel and travelled out early.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Okay, so I’ll admit: I forgot to take a photo of this one, but I think I recall what character everybody drew, so I’ve reconstructed it (hopefully correctly). The Slayer didn’t shoot the Demon; I don’t actually recall whether she even got a shot off. The Professor died in the night, but then the Lunatic bluffed Professor. In the end, the evil team was able to pin it on the Lunatic for the execution and win the game.</image:caption>

<image:caption>At the first town meeting, they chose to execute the Moonchild, who claimed his role and picked the Tea Lady. Unfortunately, the Alchemist-Godfather killed the same player that night, resulting in substantial confusion the next day. The Goon died good, and the Gossip never got a kill. Similarly, the Lycanthrope woke up every night, but didn’t get a kill till he selected himself, resulting in an evil win.</image:caption>

<image:title>Town Square - That’s-a Very Spicy Zom-a-buul! - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>By this point I was probably a little too tired to be Storytelling, honestly… But on Day 1, the town executed my Demon, and I just wasn’t expecting it and got very thrown. I announced an evil win, due to the in-play Heretic. But of course with a Scarlet Woman in play as the Minion, she should’ve turned into another Fang Gu. This would mean the “good” win condition was never achieved, so the Heretic was not relevant yet. It’s a shame I got mixed up, because I think this setup had the potential to become a great game.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The Poisoner targeted the Amnesiac-Clockmaker and the Flowergirl, but the latter died before getting poisoned info that would’ve implicated the Fortune Teller. The Fisherman received advice that “Killing the Goblin today wouldn’t cause good or evil to win by that action alone, but it would narrow down the suspects,” which was true due to the Courtier drinking with the Goblin. This was enough to convince most players to vote to execute the Lord of Typhon.</image:caption>

The Savant got 3 days of information, but due to Pukka poison on Day 3, both statements were true - Pukka & Damsel were both in play! The Courtier saved her choice until Night 4, and correctly chose the Pukka. After 2 more nights without a Demon kill, the town went ahead and executed the claimed Courtier.</image:caption>

The Alsaahir made some close guesses, but it wouldn't have mattered if they were correct, because both Evil Twin & good twin were alive. The Fortune Teller got a yes on the Kazali and the red herring in the same ping, and the Slayer shot the Scarlet Woman when she was still just a Minion.</image:caption>

<image:caption>When the No Dashii killed the Sage, she learned 2 players who could be the Demon. Most of the town suspected the Oracle (who had been transformed into a Sweetheart by the Pit-Hag), but then he died to the Witch's curse, having just nominated the other half of the Sage pings! The town sent it, and they were right.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The Savant was killed early, and the Evil Twin pair came out late. The town seemed pretty split on whether this was a Vortox game, for a while. The Cerenovus created chaos, even after his death, and the Snake Charmer found the Demon accidentally, I'm pretty sure.</image:caption>

The Boffin ability was Philosopher, so the Demon chose Barber and triggered a Barber swap N3 by killing himself, effectively “starpassing” to one end of the Typhon line.</image:caption>
