BGG.Con Spring 2026 - Day 1

The Thursday of BoardGameGeek.Con Spring 2026 was lovely! I met up with lots of old friends, and I ran 4 games of Blood on the Clocktower. Like usual, I stayed in the Clocktower lobby area pretty much the whole time - the atrium of the big ballroom. In fact, I don’t think I even entered the big ballroom at any point in the entire Con, which I find just hilarious.

Trouble Brewing - 11-player - evil won (?)

I eased into the Con with a classic Trouble Brewing game, and I can honestly say, after the 14 or so other games I Storytold last weekend, I actually don’t recall for sure whether this one was a good win or an evil win. From the other Grim photos I took, it looks to me like the Investigator nommed the Virgin and was executed by them, but not till D3. It also looks like the Ravenkeeper would’ve gotten a sober use of their ability, and the Drunk (Empath) must have figured out that they were Drunk, but I think Emma was able to convince most of the town to kill her brother Joe, in the end.

Sects & Violets - 10-player - evil won (TKO)

I do remember how this game ended - I declared an evil victory, and I regretted it afterward. In this game, the evil Pit-Hag created a good Vortox close to the end of the game, and since it was a good demon, which the good team should therefore know/hear about, I decided not to arbitrarily kill anybody. On the day of the final 4, I was getting a lot of calls from the town to end the game, because it seemed unwinnable for good, so I did declare an evil victory at this point. But looking back on it, I’m honestly not sure at all - either Demon could’ve killed the other without killing another Townsfolk, the Snake Charmer also could’ve swapped with either Demon to create confusion or potentially change teams and steal the win!

Sects & Violets - 9-player - good won (?)

I honestly don’t clearly recall the ending of this game, either - it was a long weekend, y’all! I am pretty sure it must’ve been a good team win, because this is the last photo I took. I know it wasn’t a Klutz loss, because the Klutz was death #1 or #2, and 2 people died after that, so Klutz probably cleared a good player. If it came down to the final 3, then I forgot to take a photo on the last night, but I do think that the good team figured this one out, because I recall that the Philo (Oracle) and the Philo-drunk real Oracle were working together and got information that confirmed which was drunk.

Trouble Brewing - 12-player + 1 Traveller - evil won.

My first scheduled game of the convention, and I’m pretty sure this one came down to an evil win. The Drunk (Washerwoman) got a Demon bluff as their Townsfolk, probably Mayor but maybe Chef. The Undertaker learned of a very early Imp execution. That was of course caught by a Scarlet Woman who later star-passed as the Imp, to the Baron. The Soldier blocked a kill, and the Gunslinger had no time to duel and travelled out early.
