Political Implications

Tonight I ran another script created by one of my players, Juin; she calls it Mission IMPossible. The script itself is quite good, and we had a great time playing 2 games of it! I think we’ll revisit this one in future sessions. Honestly I think the title is slightly cheesy - I don’t see anything that the script has to do with either the TV series or the movie franchise - but probably it was just a quick pun to name it something without thinking too hard about it. And what really matters is how it plays, anyway.

I guess if I were trying to come up with a title for it, I’d focus on how this is a bunch of demons that should make the good team unusually suspicious of dead players. These demons can star-pass, Fang Gu-jump, Vigor-kill minions, and register as dead while still alive, so just because a particular player has died, it doesn’t give them much credibility on this script.

Mission IMPossible - 10-player + 1 Traveller - evil won.

The Knight was poisoned N1, so she got wrong info that included the Demon. On N2, the Vigormortis killed his minion, the Poisoner, to keep his ability and poison an alive neighbor. I put the Vig poison token on the Balloonist. Unfortunately, I made a Storyteller error that night when I gave info to the Balloonist, because the poison token should’ve been nullified by the Monk’s protection. I gave incorrect info, thinking that the Balloonist had been poisoned successfully. N3 I found the mistake and corrected it going forward, and I announced it on the following morning, but it seemed like people forgot about it.

Mission IMPossible - 11-player - good won.

This game was one hell of a puzzle! Without seriously think about it, I put the Zombuul into the bag with a Scarlet Woman as a Minion. I also included an Imp, knowing that it would be drawn by my Hermit (Lunatic/Recluse/Politician). The Hermit ended up next to the demon, so the Marionette had to be on his other side, which made it the Poppy Grower. On N1, the Snake Charmer chose the Hermit, and I should’ve misregistered her and should’ve done that swap for the fun of it, but at the time, I knew it was gonna be a long night, and I figured there’d be other opportunities to do it later, so I declined. When the Zombuul killed himself a couple nights later, I interpreted the Scarlet Woman/Zombuul interaction literally, which means that the Scarlet Woman becomes a duplicate Zombuul. Even though the original is still alive to use his ability and for win conditions, he registers as dead to all character abilities, even evil ones - the wiki is emphatic on this point. So the town had to deal with 2 Zombuuls waking up sporadically for the rest of the game, sometimes killing 2 victims, and sometimes just 1, which was extremely vexing! The good team eventually puzzled out what had to be going on, and they eventually double-tapped both the demons at the last possible moment.
